Country View Quilting
Stephanie began sewing at a young age. She was involved with the 4-H program, then asked to be an assistant with a summer school sewing class during her jr. high years. During high school, she worked at a local fabric shop(Millard, NE), creating display garments during her free time. Over the years, she has sewn anything from formal wear, creating her own wedding gown, window coverings and decorator accessories, dance costumes, clothing alterations and even re-upholstered tractor seats.
She pieced her first quilt top while in jr high using a cardboard template that she created from a cereal box. She has never kept track of the numerous quilts that she has made, sending many of her first quilts off to be hand-quilted, then later machine quilted. In late 2005, she purchased an HQ for her own projects. Once word spread that she had a quilting machine, she found herself busy, and researched industrial Long- Arm Quilting machines before purchasing her Gammill Optimum with Statler in 2009. I just love my Statler! A decision she has never regret.
In 1998, Stephanie set up JBK Enterprises, LLC to operate Soy Candle. She along with husband Dean created a Soybean Candle to add value to soybeans, one of several crops grown on their family farm. She later sold Soy Candle, focusing strictly on her love of fabrics and quilting. She now runs Country View Quilting from their farm NW of Osmond, (Northeast) Nebraska. In 2013, Stephanie was quilted the Nebraska State Quilt Guild’s raffle quilt.
Dean and Stephanie have three grown children – Brandi- teaches music in MI, James and Krista – both are currently pursuing college degrees. Besides quilting, Stephanie enjoys spending time with husband Dean and their family, helping with harvest, attending family activities, traveling and reading.
Stephanie holds a BA degree in Business Administration and is an alumni of NE LEAD XXIII ( a two year Ag related leadership course).
