Pat Ackerman

Pat started learning to sew garments when she was 11 but never considered quilting till 1992 when she took her first piecing/quilting class.  She was hooked and has been piecing/quilting ever since.  In late 2005 she purchased her Gammill longarm machine and opened her business “Cobalt Quilting” in Alexandria, VA.  For the first five plus years she was still working full time as a civil servant for the Army Corps of Engineers and quilted in the evenings and on weekends.  Once she retired in 2011 she built a quilting studio in her backyard (so she and her retired significant other of 33 years would not kill each other being together in the same house 24/7) and started quilting fulltime.  Whenever the accountant in her yearns to come out she volunteers to be treasurer for a quilting related organization.  Working on a good Excel spreadsheet helps her relieve stress equally as well as quilting does.  In her spare time, she and her significant other enjoy visiting local wineries and attending food and wine pairing events.
