Melinda Walker owns and operates Springdale Quilting and Retreat Cottage, a small business where she provides long arm quilting and offers retreats.
Melinda fell in love with quilting after she took her first quilting class in 1987. After several years of quilting, Melinda purchased her first hand guided Gammill long arm in June 2006. As local quilters heard the news about Melinda’s long arm quilting it soon turned into a business. In August 2011, Melinda traded her hand guided machine in for a Statler to meet the demands of her customers.
Melinda currently is a member of the Sew and Sew’s Quilt Guild in Franklin, WV, where she also serves as treasure. She is a mentor and teacher for other quilters in the community. Over the past eight years Melinda has served as a director of the Tri-County Fair board where she is in charge of concessions.
Melinda and her husband Dale have five children, seven grandchildren, and four dogs. They also have strong ties in the community.
