In the Beginning:
This user group’s acronym, S.U.G.A.R., didn’t come out of a dream, but from Kim Diamond of Sweet Dreams Quilt Studio, Columbia, Missouri. Many Statler Stitcher™ users received their first training from Kim. Not only was Kim the first trainer for Paul Statler, but she also owns the first Statler Stitcher™ he made.
Kim sponsored and organized the first ever SUGAR Conference for the Statler users in 2008 which was held in Overland Park, Kansas. It was at that conference she first shared her desire to see the formation of a user group for the long-arm quilters who owned or used a Statler Stitcher™. She paved the way for a group of volunteers to serve as a potential board of directors. At the second SUGAR Conference held in 2010, in Columbia, Missouri, this group presented a plan that would bring the user group, S.U.G.A.R., to fruition.
The Growing Years:
On June 24, 2010, the attendees of the conference voted to form the user group, Statler Users Group and Representatives, otherwise known as SUGAR! This website is the latest benefit for the members to stay up to date with Creative Studio™ training, technique, troubleshooting tips, and other helpful tools . Whether our members are quilting professionally or personally, our goal is to provide them with the sources to make their work profitable, pleasurable, and enjoyable. We suggest you check the SUGAR website often as new items will be added.
Where we’re going:
Our mission is to improve communication, education, resources, and training for Statler Stitcher users while also promoting awareness of computerized longarm quilting within the quilting community. We are just getting started and there is so much more to come so stay tuned…
